Library Induction - Faye's Lesson - 01/10/2015

Today i had my Library Induction to go and look around. I found it had many things such as books, DVDs, Magazines and Computers. I also learn't about how to print.

Some things that interested me were:

"Graffiti Kings"

This interested me because i have a passion for Graffiti and it names quite a bit of graffiti artists that have done some really good pieces of art.

"Intel Motherboard"

This interests me because i am really interested in how computers operate.

Subversive Advertisment - Faye's Lesson

Plan of Subversive Advert

I chose this as my Subversive advert due to Coca Cola being known to have a high acidic content and is known to be used to clean toilets.

This is the planned out version of the Subversive advert, and below is the finished version of the Subversive advert.

Week 5 Memory Check - 12/10/2015 - Mark Epton's Lesson

Q1. What is ISO and what does it effect?

A1 - ISO stands for "International Standards Organization". Its the sensitivity of the camera to the light, It would be used in the Night to pick up any light. In a low light situation you would need a high ISO setting on the camera. The Higher the ISO, the more grainy that the pictures get.

Q2. When would we use the ‘P’ control setting on the camera mode dial.

A2 - We would use the Program Setting on the camera when you're controlling the ISO and the White balance. If you didn't use this setting to sort out the White balance, then your colours would become a yellowy colour that you don't want so you have to white balance the camera everytime the light changes to get the best pictures

Q3. Name two important considerations when attaching the tripod baseplate to the bottom of camera?

A3
1. Make sure it is tight, but not too tight. For example, as tight as you can get it off
2. Make sure the locking lever is pushed in so that the baseplate is locked into place.

Q4. Name three important considerations when using a red-head lighting kit

A4
1. Don't touch the Barn Doors as they are hot
2. Don't bang the Readhead as the bulb is every easy to break.
3. Leave to cool down for around 10-15 minutes
4. Don't trip over the wire.

Q5. When focusing the camera, what do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the center of focus?

A5 - You have to place the little green rectangle on where you are taking the picture for it to be in focus. If it wasn't it could be really blurry.

Q6. Name two techniques we can use to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph?

A6
1. Curves and Levels - Using the Histogram to change the brightness/contrast of the picture.
2. Exposure - Using shutter speed, ISO or Aperture to make the camera lighter/darker.

Advert Label Designing - 01/10/2015 - Owain's Lesson

Label Design Ideas
In Today's Lesson we are designing our Advert Label for our product. I found 4 fonts that caught my eye and i thought that would fit the theme of the product.

We chose the name "Possessed" for our product because it makes the person think that the drink will take over their body and the drink will completely control the body.

To get the font for the label we went onto dafont.com and print screened the font that we wanted, we then went and used the cropping tool and the resizing tool to get the size and shape we wanted. There was a problem with the font with it having a nasty white background so we used the magic wand tool to get rid of the background.

Label Design 1
I have used many tools on the making of this label, such as:

  • Magic Wand Tool
  • Cropping Tool
  • Layer Masking Tool
  • Pen Tool
  • Rectangular Marquee
To Start with, I looked for a background that will go well with blood dripping down it, which was the faded background on the 2 Designs which was located in the Gradient Overlays. I then Looked for a barcode and nutritional info to make the label look as if it was a real product that was going to go on sale in a retail store.

Label Design 2
After deciding which title i was going to use, I decided to put it on the label and created a slogan which is "The Energy Will Stay Within". I tried to incorporate in the meaning of the word Possessed.

I looked at the Label and then realised that it was missing the description of what the product was, so i added it on Label Design 2.
