Week 5 Memory Check - 12/10/2015 - Mark Epton's Lesson
Q1. What is ISO and what does it
effect?
A1 - ISO stands for "International Standards Organization". Its the sensitivity of the camera to the light, It would be used in the Night to pick up any light. In a low light situation you would need a high ISO setting on the camera. The Higher the ISO, the more grainy that the pictures get.
Q2. When would we use the ‘P’ control
setting on the camera mode dial.
A2 - We would use the Program Setting on the camera when you're controlling the ISO and the White balance. If you didn't use this setting to sort out the White balance, then your colours would become a yellowy colour that you don't want so you have to white balance the camera everytime the light changes to get the best pictures
Q3. Name two important
considerations when attaching the tripod baseplate to the bottom of camera?
A3 -
1. Make sure it is tight, but not too tight. For example, as tight as you can get it off
2. Make sure the locking lever is pushed in so that the baseplate is locked into place.
Q4. Name three important
considerations when using a red-head lighting kit
A4 -
1. Don't touch the Barn Doors as they are hot
2. Don't bang the Readhead as the bulb is every easy to break.
3. Leave to cool down for around 10-15 minutes
4. Don't trip over the wire.
Q5. When focusing
the camera, what do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the center of
focus?
A5 - You have to place the little green rectangle on where you are taking the picture for it to be in focus. If it wasn't it could be really blurry.
Q6. Name two
techniques we can use to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph?
A6 -
1. Curves and Levels - Using the Histogram to change the brightness/contrast of the picture.
2. Exposure - Using shutter speed, ISO or Aperture to make the camera lighter/darker.

Advert Label Designing - 01/10/2015 - Owain's Lesson
![]() |
| Label Design Ideas |
We chose the name "Possessed" for our product because it makes the person think that the drink will take over their body and the drink will completely control the body.
To get the font for the label we went onto dafont.com and print screened the font that we wanted, we then went and used the cropping tool and the resizing tool to get the size and shape we wanted. There was a problem with the font with it having a nasty white background so we used the magic wand tool to get rid of the background.

| Label Design 1 |
- Magic Wand Tool
- Cropping Tool
- Layer Masking Tool
- Pen Tool
- Rectangular Marquee
To Start with, I looked for a background that will go well with blood dripping down it, which was the faded background on the 2 Designs which was located in the Gradient Overlays. I then Looked for a barcode and nutritional info to make the label look as if it was a real product that was going to go on sale in a retail store.

| Label Design 2 |
After deciding which title i was going to use, I decided to put it on the label and created a slogan which is "The Energy Will Stay Within". I tried to incorporate in the meaning of the word Possessed.
I looked at the Label and then realised that it was missing the description of what the product was, so i added it on Label Design 2.

1. Little Baby's Ice Cream AdLink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erh2ngRZxs0
This Advert uses a Close up shot during filming. The advert is a very unusual advert because the person doing this has got ice cream on top of her head and is eating it. This is one of the things you wouldn't see anyone do normally.
2. Phones 4 U - Little Girl AdLink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2oL_gXECtg
This advert features a woman coming back from shopping and a little girl (Ghost) pops up in different parts which scares the woman.

Unique Ghostly Images - 24/09/2015
Image 1
Image 2
Image 3
Image 1 - In the first image, i chose a picture of a disused bathroom and a spooky looking person in a suit. i had to copy and paste the picture on to the background and make the image the right size by pressing Ctrl + T. I then had to get rid of the background by using the pen tool on photoshop. I then had to desaturate the picture and make it look black and white to make it look ghostly and also change the Opacity of the photo to make the person look like a ghostly like image. I liked the way the picture looked ghostly, but i didn't like the way the person didn't blend in to the image as well as image 2 and 3.
Image 2 - In this image i found a picture of a spooky like forest, It had a person in the middle of it which i used Content Aware to get rid of the person and making a Duplicate copy of the background to cover up the person. I then got a picture of a hunter, then with the pen tool got rid of the background on the picture and desaturated the picture. I liked the picture of the forest but didn't like that it had a person in the middle of it before editing it.
Image 3 - This Image is my favourite Image. I found a picture of an old fashioned castle that was abandoned, then looked for a picture of a knight which suited the scene of the castle. I then used the pen tool to get rid of the background and changed the opacity of the image and stuck it on the path to make it look as if it was on a patrol round the castle.
Banner
This pic is of my banner that i created, I first of all got a rectangle and then used the anchor tool to get the rectangle to have the dips.I then made 2 Squares and used the anchor tool to make them into triangles. I then put the triangles at the borrom of the rectangle and coloured the rectangle in and the triangles to make this banner.

Pictures that inspire me - 15/09/2015
Picture 1
Trapped inside myself... In my most down moments this picture really represents how I have felt

Picture 2
Tom French creates portraits or paintings of skull filled with other people. It's almost like we are filled with all these memories and pains and it's written on our face, or rather in the shadows, the dark parts we hide, we disguise.

Picture 3
There's a place down at the end of the way. Travel at dark, you won't find it at day. It appears, then leaves like a shadow in the mist. Here now, gone the next, it won't even exist.

Advertising Theory - 15/09/2015
At the start of the lesson we got given a piece of paper with some set slogans in a grid, our task was to find out which products/companies the slogans came from. We then had to explain how the companies/products were advertising it and what draws people to go and buy the products.
Group Task
In the lesson, we were asked to create a advertisement that was designed for a set audience such as toddlers which was to be put on a Billboard. Our group chose a "Spongebob Snack Bar" which had Oats, Raisins and apples in it.
The Slogan for our product was "Play with it and Eat it". The Reason we chose this slogan is because we added a free toy with the snack bar which the toddlers could play with after eating the product.
We chose bright colours and cartoons to draw the attention to the toddlers and also added some text in to the advertisements to try and convince the parents to buy the product for their kids.
What could we Improve?
If i was to do this again, i would plan it out on a piece of paper and brainstorm it to try and get some more ideas to produce a bigger and better product. We could of also planned out what we were going to say and make it clear who was saying what in the presentation.
